After the Election

It seemed as though most of the world was watching the recent U.S. election with bated breath. There was good reason for this, because (from our perspective) the past U.S. administration didn’t operate from a coaching culture and had no plans to do so in the future. We are now optimistic that the new administration here in the U.S. will put forth a culture of respect and listening, direct feedback, fairness, inclusivity, and collaboration. Our hope is that all the structures of consciousness will also…

The Multiple Perspectives of COVID

As our alumni and students have experienced, our coach training has it’s foundation in Jean Gebser’s Structures of Consciousness, or ways of thinking and being. In simple and practical terms, this means looking at situations/scenarios/relationships etc. through multiple perspectives/structures. The Archaic Structure: The perspective where all is well, where you are connected to all that you need. A place we try to inhabit when we meditate. All is one. There is no time or space. The Magic Structure: The perspective where tribe is important. Intuition…

Chaos

Changes in this world are happening quicker than we think and it can be hard to adjust. It feels like chaos here in the United States. Political parties are pitted against one another, extreme weather is becoming the “new normal”, and stories of gun violence are populating the news. This in addition to personal issues, relationship issues, financial issues, and/or health issues that we (or those close to us) are experiencing, can add to a cocktail of instability mixed with fear with overwhelm.   …

Using Intuition for Your 2019 Vision

We talk about intuition in our coach training courses; how we all have the ability to tune into our inner knowing, and that we can do this in all sorts of ways. Some of our students get a “gut instinct” and they just know the truth, some see pictures/images in their mind’s eye, some “just know” when they do muscle testing, or when all the hairs on their arms stand on end. Some receive intuitive guidance through dreams or meditation and then they are…

Spring Energy Emerging

There are finally signs of spring emerging here in the Northern Hemisphere. Spring is about newness and growth, and you can tune into this energy to support your forward movement. How can you leverage this new earth energy for personal and professional growth? Take a peaceful moment to yourself free from all distractions. Sit in a comfortable chair, keep your back supported, and feel both feet firmly on the floor. Take a few deep, cleansing breaths, and feel your connection to the earth. Imagine…

Marching Forward

Marching Forward When You Get Bumps in the Road When you hit a bump, a big bump, a bigger bump, or a bump of any size, what is your response? Do you get angry? Impatient? Do you want to quit? Do you want to find a coach? Nowadays, it’s hard to find one person that isn’t dealing with challenges. It’s a time in history when there are extra bumps in the road; the old ways are collapsing as the new construction gets underway. It’s a…

Here we are in 2018…

Maybe we have said this before, but something feels different about this year. Almost like energies are coalescing, and what we create in our coaching community is amplified. This noticeably started near the end of 2017, in fact, a lot of things really came together last year now that we think of it!   Here is a little “year in review”: In 2017, the International Consortium for Health and Wellness Coaching (ICHWC) launched it’s very first certification exam offering an avenue for all types of…

A Year Since the Election

It’s hard to imagine a year has gone by since the election here in the United States. It’s been called a disruptive election; an election that would no doubt shake things up. Was the election part of our world paradigm changing? Here are some coaching questions we hope you find helpful: What have you noticed going on in the world since this election? What have you learned from this election? What would you like to change, and what is one small easy next step toward…

The Emotion of Awe Do you ever have the impulse to share a beautiful or amazing sight with someone else? Lately I’ve been noticing how much I love sharing my enthusiasm for the natural world. When I do this with other people around me, I get a lot of different responses. Some people avidly agree, “Yes, the clouds are amazing today!” while others merely grunt or outright ignore my commentary. I feel disappointed when I attempt to recruit a companion into reverie and they greet…
