FREE Webinar celebrating International Coaching Week and Nurses Week 2018
Hey, what did you say? What gets in the way of listening to clients?
Have you ever felt like you were listening to a client, but didn’t really “hear” what they were trying to say? Like there was something keeping you from making a real connection and establishing a therapeutic relationship with your client?
Join us for a fun and informative hour that can help transform your practice and really get you in tune with your clients. Nurse coaches Dr. Linda Bark and Lisa Benner share their experiences with how to identify personal obstacles that get in the way of authentic therapeutic presence.
The purpose of the course is to help students identify which of their own personal needs interfere with being able to listen accurately and how those needs are manifested in a communication within the therapeutic relationship. Personal needs might include the following:
Having to be right
Wanting to be accepted
Needing to connect
Wanting to fix things
Needing to educate people
After the need is identified, students can find better ways outside of the client relationship to meet those needs.
Identify one need that interferes with listening
Identify how that need manifests when listening
Identify how that need could be met outside of the client relationship
